After their split-up with Sony, Vaio Computers today revealed the prototype of their tablet PC. Instead of making cheap mainstream laptop, Sony has decided to focus on premium devices targeted towards professionals. Their new prototype is a a 12.3-inch high-resolution screen device that works with an electronic pen and wireless keyboard. It is powered by Intel Haswell quad-core CPU with Iris graphics and 2,560 x 1,704 (3:2) display.
“By creating a tablet environment that is as powerful as a desktop, we want to free up creators from the desk when at work,” said Vaio deputy general manager Yoshifumi Ito.
Vaio has said it would cost around 200,000 yen ($1,800) and expected to go on sale by May next year in Japan. I guess it may become a good competiror for Surface Pro 3.
