Nokia X2 is 3rd Android phone by NOKIA after Nokia X and XL. It runs Android 4.3 Jelly Beans and Nokia X UI which is similar to Microsoft’s windows mobile UI and is targeted for 1st time smartphone users who may upgrade to windows phone in future. Difference between this phone and its predecessor Nokia X is that it has a home button instead of only back button, 1GB ram, 5MP camera and better battery. Checkout GSM Arena for detailed difference in specs.
Key Features:
- Dual Sim
- 5MP Camera
- 1 GB Ram & 1.2 Ghz Dual core processor
- Wifi, FM, Bluetooth, GPS, Accelerometer, proximity sensor
- Better for Microsoft users.
- Google services supported in new update.
Main Disadvantages:
- No Google Services (though you can install google services keep reading)
- No Notification LED
- No backlight on back and home buttons
- Nokia UI is confusing and not much customise able, must work on it.
- Product design is not that appealing, looks like a brick/asha.
Packaging of this phone is real a disappointment.
It comes with low quality earphones, battery, charger and no usb cable. I used this phone for couple of days, performance is good and transitions between apps is smooth without and lag, but I didn’t like its UI at all and I ended up rooting this phone to install google services and a good launcher.
Rooting Nokia X2 & installing Google Play:
Rooting this phone is simple, its a 10 minutes task, you need NOKIA X2 TOOLS v1.1 to root this phone and install google services. Click Here to download. (Note: Rooting your phone will void its warranty, so do it on your own risk.)
Before all actions make sure, that you are in developer mode and USB debugging is turned on. To activate the developer mode go to Settings – About phone, and tap 5 times to “Software version”, then go to Settings – Developer options – USB debugging.Nokia X2 Tools Program allows Nokia X2 owners to install Google Play Store + Google services and also to gain Root-access. The process is very simple, you just need to connect the smartphone to PC and to run .exe file. Then press 1 to install drivers, to get Root-access – press 4, and after that press 2 to get Google Play.
After Rooting and installing Google Play Store I installed Go Launcher EX and SwiftKey to give it native android look and better keyboard and phone looks much better now.
