The notification centre in Windows Phone is a great addition, but for me is also often a source of frustration.
When I get a Facebook Message and tap on a toast or the entry in the notification drop down, I expect to be taken to the message thread, not to the last conversation I had with some-one completely different. WhatsApp is guilty of exactly the same UI issue, which is a great pity and makes Windows Phone look pretty poor at multi-tasking.
I even get this issue with twitter notification. When instead of just one notification, i get many similar event notification. And even the twitter live tile shows only (1) even if there are many notifications.
Even when an app does it well, like the built-in email app in Windows Phone, they often do not provide a way to get back to the rest of your messages. When you tap on an email toast and have read an new email, it is impossible to move on to the next – you actually have to leave the app to open the mailbox.
The behaviour made sense when we just had tiles, as tiles were mostly shortcuts to the app, but with a notification centre I expect to be handling my messaging a lot more seamlessly.
