Last September, Microsoft announced the second generation Surface devices. Microsoft announced thinner and lighter Surface 2 tablet running Windows RT 8.1 OS. Last month, Microsoft started selling the 3rd generation Surface Pro 3 device and all SKUs going on sale from next month. Now, the obvious thing from Microsoft is to announce the 3rd generation 10.6-inch Windows RT based tablet.
Back in July, Digitimes reported that Microsoft is expected to launch a 10.6-inch Surface 3 in October 2014, with production of components to begin in August and volume production of the tablet to kick off in September. And this upcoming Surface will be thinner and lighter than the previous version of Surface. Today, TKTechnews reported that Microsoft is planning to launch Surface 3 in the coming weeks. Also, Microsoft is expected to reveal Surface Mini device too and both will go on sale for this holiday season. They are noted that Surface Mini will be in limited supply.
