Ubuntu 10.10 is the latest Free Operating System released under the brand name. Ubuntu is a distribution OS built upon Linux so if you want to give Linux OS a try, Ubuntu is not a bad choice.
Since Linux is open source software, you can edit too and that’s how Ubuntu came into existence.
I got to know about Ubuntu from a YouTube Channel Coverless Tech, that guy was explaining something about Linux and I found it quite interesting so I decided to give it a shot and installed Ubuntu on my PC.
What was the Installation Process Like?

Ubuntu 10.10 is a Free Operating System and not only that it is quite easy to install. You can download the iso image of Installation Disk from Ubuntu’s Official Website and that iso image can be converted into a CD using any Image Burning Tools, I would recommend Nero 9.
There are other ways to create a bootable version of this Free Operating System i.e. by creating a bootable USB stick which is revealed by Coverless Tech over here.
Once you have made the USB stick you can follow the procedure listed in this video to get Ubuntu 10.10 installed on your PC.
It is simple.
Ubuntu 10.10: Free Operating System on Windows XP/Vista/7
UBUNTU 10.10 comes with this new service for Windows that lets you install Ubuntu onto your system without having to creating neither a bootable CD nor a bootable disk.
So how does that work?
You get an Ubuntu 10.10: Free Operating System installer application which you can run like any other program on Windows. That alone will install Ubuntu on your Computer.
Well, the download process would take time for sure since Ubuntu package is of 700MB, it took me close to 5 hours for downloading 700MBs and installing it completely on my PC.
At the moment I am running two Operating Systems, Windows XP and Ubuntu 10.10: Free Operating System.
Programs Included in Ubuntu 10.10: Free Operating System
Almost all the basic programs like Open Office, GIMP, a good media player, a good music player, a couple of games and a web browser comes bundles with Ubuntu 10.10 so you basically need to just plug and play not much installation needed.
I was impressed by Ubuntu’s boot time because it was nowhere close to what Windows XP takes to boot up.
My PC was functional for work within 15-20 seconds whereas XP takes at 1.5 minutes to get into a position where I can open my browser.
I like Ubuntu 10.10: Free Operating System I have found a few bugs in the OS about which I would be learning in coming days.
